How to Choose the Right Odoo Implementation Partner in India

The Odoo partner you choose will make or break your ERP project. This guide reveals exactly what to look for, what questions to ask, and…

India has hundreds of Odoo implementation partners — from one-person consultancies to large system integrators. Choosing the wrong one is one of the most expensive mistakes a business can make. Failed ERP implementations don’t just cost money; they disrupt operations and damage team morale for months.

This guide gives you a rigorous framework for evaluating and selecting the right Odoo partner.

The 5 Non-Negotiable Selection Criteria

1. Certified Odoo Expertise

Odoo maintains an official partner certification programme. Ask any prospective partner to show their current partner status on odoo.com. Partners are rated as Gold, Silver or Ready based on their certified employees and implementations. A partner without any certifications is a red flag.

2. Industry Experience

An Odoo partner who has implemented 20 manufacturing plants will configure your manufacturing company very differently — and much better — than a partner whose experience is entirely in retail. Ask specifically: “How many implementations have you done in our industry?” and ask for references from those clients.

3. Development Capability

Even a “standard” Odoo implementation typically requires some customisation. Ask to see examples of custom modules they’ve built. Review their code quality. Ask how they handle version upgrades of custom modules. Partners who can’t show you real custom development work are likely to outsource it without transparency.

4. Post Go-Live Support

Go-live is not the end — it’s the beginning. Ask for their SLA terms for post-go-live support. What is the response time for critical issues? Who is the dedicated account manager? Do they offer a fixed-cost annual maintenance plan?

5. Project Management Methodology

Ask them to walk you through their implementation methodology. Good partners have a documented process with clear milestones, sign-off gates and change management procedures. If their “methodology” is vague, your project will be too.

Questions to Ask in Every Demo or Pitch

  • Can you show me three references in my industry who went live in the last 18 months?
  • What percentage of your implementations are delivered on time and on budget?
  • How do you handle scope changes during the project?
  • What happens if a key consultant leaves your company mid-project?
  • Can I see a sample statement of work / project plan from a similar implementation?

Red Flags to Watch Out For

  • Partners who quote without asking detailed questions about your business
  • Unrealistically low prices (good Odoo implementation is not cheap)
  • Inability to provide verifiable client references
  • No dedicated project manager assigned to your account
  • Vague answers about data migration methodology
